Zipcar has confirmed it is ceasing operations in the UK and is closing all UK member accounts.
In a notice to members, Zipcar states that UK accounts will remain open until 16 February 2026, after which they will be formally closed.

Refunds
- Paid memberships and subscription waivers are being pro-rated and refunded
- Refunds are backdated to 31 December 2025
- Refunds are issued automatically to the original payment method
- Zipcar expects eligible refunds to arrive by the end of January 2026

Where Zipcar operated near East Village
Zipcar previously had a small number of on-street bays within walking distance of East Village, including:
- streets around Victory Park
- the Stratford / Chobham Manor edge
- areas near Westfield Stratford
All of those Zipcar bays are now inactive.
Closest car-club alternative
There is one nearby car-club location that operates on a similar model:
- Enterprise Car Club – Penny Brookes Street (GoStratford)
This is the nearest remaining option offering:
- app-based booking
- hourly or daily hire
- return-to-bay use
Availability depends on vehicle supply at that single location.
Conventional car hire
For longer trips:
- Sixt – Stratford International Station
Standard rental model. Day rates. Advance booking required.
What this means, plainly
- Zipcar is no longer available anywhere in or around East Village
- The previous small network of nearby shared cars has been removed
- Short, occasional car use now depends on:
- Enterprise Car Club (Penny Brookes Street), or
- traditional rental from Stratford
East Village remains car-light. It is now less forgiving if you need one briefly.
