As we previously reported, work to redevelop the park space in Belvedere is imminent, and will now begin in January.
Here’s the latest from GetLiving:
Improvements overview
The project will deliver significantly revitalised greener spaces with planting areas enriched by trees, wildflowers, and perennials. Once complete, Belvedere Park will offer an inviting place for everyone to enjoy, meet and relax. Highlights for our refreshed Belvedere Park include:
- A larger and more enhanced play area for children aged 4-10 with sensory and social play features.
- Generous lawn space, plenty of shaded seating areas to enjoy and meandering paths to create a sociable, inclusive and enjoyable environment to pass through.
- Enhanced landscaping with over 100 different species of plants, including trees, perennial beds and wildflowers, which have been planted to focus on supporting biodiversity, attracting pollinators and encouraging songbirds to East Village.
- Improved pedestrian and cyclist connectivity, reducing mud and improving accessibility.
- Street furniture, benches, upgraded lighting and CCTV to enhance comfort and safety.
During the works
We recognise that the works may bring some short-term disruption, and we appreciate your patience during this time. We’ve worked closely with our contractors to minimise impact on residents, ensuring access routes remain open and noise is managed as carefully as possible.
- While the hoarding is in place, we’ll use it to celebrate East Village - sharing stories, local highlights and future plans to keep the area feeling active and connected. There will be slight pavement adjustments and temporary relocation of outdoor seating for some of your retailers.
- Deliveries and contractor access will be via Celebration Avenue during standard working hours (Monday – Friday 8am – 6pm, Saturday 8am – 1pm by exception), with reasonable noise control measures in place during this time.
- Park access will be restricted for safety reasons throughout the construction period. Our main contractor is Maylim, an experienced developer for large central London projects and a registered Considerate Constructor.
- Waste will be managed according to ESG and recycling criteria - even our beloved playground will be donated, reused or recycled.
- We’ve carefully planned the works to ensure safe and easy access for residents throughout, while keeping emergency and fire routes fully open.
The works are scheduled to be nearing completion by July 2026, delivering a revitalised park that is greener, more biodiverse and enjoyable for everyone. Long-term landscape maintenance plans will be developed to ensure the park, like the rest of our outside space, continues to flourish.
